We are pleased to invite you to Aarhus, Denmark, to participate in a conference on Perspectives on Memory and Cognition. Six internationally recognized scholars have accepted our invitation to give an invited address on a topic of their particular interest within the overall framework of memory and cognition. In addition, the conference will include shorter presentations from researchers in cognitive psychology and related fields (see information on submission of abstracts below). The invited speakers are listed here with a (temporary) title of their talk.

  • Patricia J. Bauer, Duke University: Constructing a past: A neuro-developmental account of early memory development
  • Claus Bundesen, University of Copenhagen: Visual attention
  • Tore Helstrup, University of Oslo: Some notes on memory from a stream of cognition perspective
  • Kathleen B. McDermott, Washington University, St. Louis: Episodic Retrieval
  • Henry L. Roediger, III, Washington University, St. Louis: The Power of Testing Memory: Basic Research and Educational Applications
  • David C. Rubin, Duke University: Autobiographical Memory

Our hope is to bring together scholars from different areas of cognition and memory and create two stimulating days with ample opportunities exchanging ideas and learning more about the field through presentations of individual research projects and programmes.

Participation in the conference is free. We encourage everyone (Ph.D. students who will get ECTS-credit, senior researchers and students) with an interest in the broad field of memory and cognition to sign up for the conference and possibly submit an abstract for either a short talk (around 15 minutes) or a poster of their topic of interest.

The committee will arrange a non-sponsored conference dinner on Thurday evening. Information will follow later.

If you want to participate, please fill in the registration form and send it as an email to Lone Hansen before April 1st 2006.

If you want to give a short talk or present a poster, please include an abstract of 100-150 words in your email to Lone Hansen. Please also indicate whether you prefer to give a talk or present a poster (we will then try to follow you preferences, but may need to move talks to posters, or posters to talks, depending on the number of abstracts).

The scientific program for the conference will be available around April 15th 2006.

Accommodation PLEASE BOOK EARLY

What else is going on in Aarhus?

The conference is arranged by The Research Group on Memory and Cognition, University of Aarhus – Dorthe Berntsen.
